Working on the business includes anything strategic: business, finance, marketing, sales, research, and business vision – it is generally more about planning, monitoring and reviewing than ‘doing’. Working in the business is completing day-to-day activities and the management and implementation of business plans and strategy. Both are important, but working on the business will often be neglected when things get busy, so it’s essential time is allocated to this and that it happens.
