Discuss these with your family and team and see where there is alignment and where there are differences. 

Develop a list of shared overall business values and add these to your business plan (Tool 1.3 in MMFS Module 1 Plan for Success).

Culture statement

This is developed by chatting to your team and family about your: 

  • favourite stories, sayings or phrases that capture how you operate.
  • symbols, brand and reputation with employees, customers and the community.
  • organisation structure (both informal and formal).
  • rituals or routines that you undertake in the business.
  • business controls and systems; are these tight, loose or a blend. 

Key here is to engage with your family and team. Listen to them, understand what they are telling you and develop this statement collaboratively.
